Did you know that all courses at ISCAE are delivered in a hybrid format (distance and/or in-person courses)? Since the lockdown, many companies have adopted teleworking a few days a week. It was obvious to us that we needed to prepare and empower our students for remote work. While it’s comfortable to be free from travel constraints, it requires autonomy and discipline . Here are our 5 tips for successfully completing your distance learning courses.
Avoid distractions
We know it can be difficult to maintain the same level of focus for two or three hours straight, especially if you’re remote. However, here are some tips to help you stay focused as much as possible, just as if you were in class:
Follow your course in a quiet place , ask those around you to respect this calm;Turn on your camera so you don’t lose focus; Avoid looking at your work-study emails to stay focused.
Set up a dedicated workspace to properly follow your courses remotely
Adopt the same posture as if you were in person , that is, sitting down and not slouching on your sofa. This will send your brain the signal that it needs to stay “focused”. If possible, set up in a quiet, tidy room that is conducive to working.
For your health and back, you can buy a desk like those that allow you to work in a sitting/standing position and an ergonomic chair. If you don’t have the necessary budget, use surfaces that have right angles like a dining table. Although the laptop is practical, because of its pad, it forces you to lower your neck and bring your shoulder forward. To rectify this, don’t hesitate to get a second screen or raise your computer. Your comfort will help improve your concentration.
Actively participate in the course
To successfully follow your distance learning courses, we recommend interacting regularly with the instructor and your classmates. The more passive you are, the harder it will be to assimilate the concepts covered and stay focused. Just like in class, don’t hesitate to ask to speak to explore a topic in more depth or to answer a question from your instructor. This will help keep the class dynamic. You can also contact the instructor after class to revisit a point. Finally, prepare for the lesson before it begins and list relevant questions to ask the class. This will enhance your learning experience.
Rely on educational software
ISCAE facilitates your distance learning outside of class with social learning tools such as:
Classroom and its many resources submitted by the speaker;The quizzes offered by your trainer to validate your knowledge;Videos of your speakers on a concept ; Tools like Edpuzzle or Genially;
The edjo educational support platform .These devices are essential to enhance your learning experience, so make the most of them!
Take advantage of breaks to move
While distance learning saves you time on your commute, this format can lead to a sedentary lifestyle. So, as soon as you have a break: get moving! Especially if you have a 7-hour day of distance learning… Take advantage of your lunch break to go for at least a 30-minute walk . During breaks, take the time to do some stretching. This habit will be beneficial for improving your concentration and productivity.
Taking your courses remotely is an excellent way to develop your independence and take responsibility while working remotely. According to work-study recruiters, it’s even an asset, as it builds trust. They know they can entrust you with remote work assignments.
